WAR — Donald Hugh Altizer, 72, of War, died, Friday, March 30, 2012 at his residence. Born May 28, 1939, in War, he was the son of the late John W. Altizer and Rosinel McCoy Altizer. Donald spent his entire life in War, having drove a truck for an oil company and worked for several garages as a mechanic. In his spare time following retirement, he enjoyed rebuilding and restoring engines of all types. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings; Virginia Dare Smallwood, John, Tommy and Bill Altizer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his three sisters, Evelyn Necessary and husband, Kenneth of Tannersville, Va., Shelva Ruszin and husband, Bill of Pasadena California, Frances Galante of Tampa, Fla.; a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road near Bluefield, Va.

Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the cemetery on Tuesday.
