Records at the Elmwood Cemetery office in Charlotte say that Jennie died of tuberculosis. For some reason, their records show that Jennie is buried in the Confederate portion of that cemetery in an unmarked grave. But later I was told that part of Section H is outside of the gated Confederate cemetery. Their son was Mangum Henry Kelly. Her mother, Katie Moore, and sister, Annie, are also buried at Elmwood Cemetery but they are not buried next to each other. Her mother died 3 years after Jennie. And her sister, Annie, died 2 years after Jennie. They also are in unmarked graves in a potter's field.
As a side note, her father died before Jennie was married on 27 Dec 1887. I think his name was Merritt R. Moore.
It seems odd that the records at Elmwood Cemetery list her as "Mrs. J. H. Kelly" even though she was divorced. I, Rhea, went to the cemetery today [17 Apr 2012] and was unable to find her grave. They think she may have been buried without a headstone.
On 5/19/2023, Bill Bibby, the Sexton at Elmwood, met me at the Confederate Cemetery and confirmed that she is in an unmarked grave in Lot 26, section H, on the very back side of the entrance to the gated Confederate Cemetery somewhere between the back fence opposite the entrance and somewhere between both back sides and extending partway up to the Confederate monument. And she could possibly be outside to the right of the gated cemetery almost up to the 1st outside graves on the right. Bill Bibby, the sexton, thinks that this area used to be a potter's field. There are a total of 40 unmarked graves inside this gated Confederate cemetery and there are 8 graves underneath the Confederate monument.
