~*~ John R. "Johnie" Hamilton ~*~
(August 28, 1911 ~ October 19, 1996)
John R. "Johnie" Hamilton, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a long battle with cancer. He was 85.
"Johnie" was the son of James and Sarah (Johnson) Hamilton.
He married Nellie Mae Frobish. They divorced.
He married Margie (Dixon) Jeffrey Nov. 24, 1956 at Clovis, New Mexico.
He was father to John Jeffrey, Jimmy Dale Hamilton, Linda Jones, Janice Leeper, and Carl Hamilton.
He was preceeded in death by two brothers: Charles Harold and Dale Hamilton, and two sisters: Ruby Walker and an infant sister.
Johnie was a friend to all the farmers in the area, working on their farm equipment for many, many years.
He was active in the Columbus baseball program for over 30 years, serving as an umpire for many years.
Johnie will surely be missed by the community.
