Preston Man Dies in Wichita.
Gilbert P. Van Dolah, 64, of Preston died Wednesday morning in the Veterans Memorial hospital in Wichita following an extended illness with cancer. Van Dolah was born Nov. 11, 1892 at Normal, Ill. He was a grain elevator operator prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Baptist church at Preston and Masonic Lodge, Rob Morris No. 332, AF&AM, at Preston. Van Dolah was united in marriage Dec. 20, 1947 to Lillian Isabelle Kahn at Preston. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Snethen, Putnam, Okla.; one son, Gilbert Van Dolah, Jr., Garden City; three sisters, Mrs. S.E. Mason, Kirkland, Wash., Mrs. Melvin Miskimen, Preston, and Mrs. Ward Sutton, Independence; and five brothers, Don of Attica, Clifford of Independence, Brown of Seattle, Leonard of Port Balkelt, Wash., and Russell of Bellflower, Calif. Three grandchildren also survive. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Preston Baptist church, Rev. Marion O. Wheaton and Rev. Cora Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the Stafford cemetery. The family stated that friends may donate to the cancer fund if they wish in lieu of flowers. Ayers-Calbeck mortuary is in charge.
