Anna was born on July 14 1689, in Hadley, Massachusetts, the daughter of Martin Kellogg and Ann Hinsdale. On November 17, 1712, in Deerfield, Massachusetts, she married Joseph Severance. Joseph fought in the French and Indian Wars, and was wounded the year after they were married. He was crippled by the wound and was compensatred with land by the General Court. Joseph and Anna settled in Deerfield, where Joseph took up tailoring. All thier children were born in Deerfield.

Around 1760, Joseph divided his land in Deerfield among his children and he and Anna moved to Montague to live with their youngest son, Moses. Both Joseph and Anna died in Monague and are buried there. Anna died on March 13, 1781 and was buried in the Old South Cemetery.
