Peaslee was a doctor who practiced for many years in New Hampshire. In addition he owned and conducted a retail merchantile business. He seems to have had a medical degree, but of what school, it is not known. Medical schools in that day were likely to be one year affairs. He stamped his name in the Family Bible, Peaslee Badger, D.S., probably meaning doctor of science. It would seem from one of Peaslee's newspaper announcements and from the writing in the Family Bible that Peaslee was most literate and a superb penman.
In his old age Peaslee came with his wife Sally to live with their son William Pearson Cogswell at Chateaugay, New York. Peaslee practiced medicine there for a time and died April 17, 1859. Both Dr. Peaslee and his wife Sally are buried in the Sandy Knoll Cemetery north of Chateaugay, in the same plot with their son William P.C. and family.
