SYLVANIA - Marvin Morel Jarrell, 70, died Friday afternoon at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a short illness.

The Johnson County native was the former owner of Jarrell Funeral Home and Syl-View Nursing Home. He was a World War II veteran, a member of Masonic Lodge 301 and the Screven County Shrine Club, a member of American Legion Post 116, and a member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Rhodes Jarrell, Sylvania; one daughter, Jan Degenhart, Savannah; one son-in-law, William J. Degenhart, Savannah; and three grandchildren, William Jarrell "Jay" Degenhart, Mary Leanna Degenhart and Robert Blake Degenhart, all of Savannah.

The funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, with the Rev. Byron Scott and Dr. H.W. Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Zeigler, Don Glisson, Jr., Moses Griner, Wallis Lovett, Jimmy Griner, Eddie Lovett, Keith Lee, Cliff Bragg, Jr., Ernie Tuten and Eddieb Lee.
