Mr. B. L. Hodges Sr., age 83, of South Harris Street, Sandersville, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home following an extended illness. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4:00pm at the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The Rev. Tripp Hodges will officiate. Mr. Hodges sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Hodges was born in Washington County the son of the late Lucian Adam Hodges, Sr. and the late Leila Brown Hodges. He was a lifelong farmer and logger and the former owner and operator of the Buddy Hodges Service Station in Oconee and then in Sandersville. Mr. Hodges served as a former Washington County Commissioner. He was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and the Antioch Christian Church. Mr. Hodges is predeceased by his wife Mary Tanner Hodges and daughters Barbara Hodges and Deborah Jean Hodges.

Survivors are: his children Buddy Hodges, Jr., Beverly Hodges (Jackie) both of Sandersville, Vicky H. Blue (David), Bruce Hodges, Sr. (Tammy), and Greg Hodges (Geraldine) all of Tennille; grandchildren, B. L. Hodges III, Ricky Hodges, Kelly Nicole Hodges, Christy Lynn Johnson, Benji Hodges, Justin Hodges, Dustin Hodges, Rusty Hodges, Necie Prince, Mary Katherine Dollar, Bruce Hodges, Jr., Krystal Hodges, Adrian Hodges, Brian Hodges, Jr., Lisa Hodges, Angela Thompson, Pamela Blue, Tonya Fordham, Jessica Carroll, Vinnie Robinson and Kim Rhodes; 34 great-grandchildren, his sister Maude H. Garner (Warren) of Clemson SC; and his friend and Heritage Inn roommate J.W. Rhodes.
