Completed his earthly life at age 79 from complications of heart disease. Son of Percy Smart Hawkes and Ida Weyerman. Grew up in the Drummond area. Married Bonnie Marie Clark July 21, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She died Aug. 27, 2001. Farmed in the Drummond area. Taught school in St. Anthony until his retirement. Married Jane Hunt Morford. Marriage solemnized September 27, 2003 in the Bountiful, Utah LDS Temple. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in various Church callings. Enjoyed the outdoors, canoeing and running his husky dog teams, even up to the day before has passed away.

His wife Jane; children: Percy William (Luisa) Hawkes, Donald Clark (Susie) Hawkes, Steve (Carolyn) Hawkes, Michel Blaine (Wendy) Hawkes, Cindy (Alan) Kingsford, Jeffrey Lynn (Lynda) Hawkes, Philip C. (Diane) Hawkes, Suzanne Peterson, Toni Marie (Terry) Miller, and Robert Allen (Sharlene) Hawkes; stepchildren: Holly (Howard) Bennion, Andrew (Trina) Morford, Quentin (Michele) Morford, Marsh (Alisa) Morford, Sara (Nick) Warnick, and Amie (Brian) Radford; siblings: Richard (Glenda) Hawkes and Norma Ruth (Fred) Von Niederhausern; 50 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and 21 step grandchildren survive.

Services held in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop Chance Eckman officiating. Burial under the direction of Bidwell Funeral Home of St. Anthony, Idaho.
