Edwin L. Ahlquist, 76, of New Britain, died Wednesday, (December 19, 2001) in Bristol. Born in Portland, he lived in New Britain most of his life. A graduate of New Britain High School in 1943, he served with the 445th Bomb Squadron and flew on many B-25 missions during World War II over Europe and Africa. He graduated from Upsala College in 1950 and also attended the Ward School of Electronics at Hillyer College. Mr. Ahlquist worked at Fafnir Bearing Co. and CANAL in Middletown. He later was an engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for over 25 years, retiring in 1987.

Surviving is his wife, June (Davidson) Ahlquist; a son, Mark E. Ahlquist of Torrington; two daughters, Lynn Ahlquist and her husband, Michal Mazurkiewicz of Berlin, and Karen Ahlquist of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ahlquist, Alison and Erika Mazurkiewicz; and several nieces.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church, 77 Franklin Sq., New Britain. Burial will be in Swedish Cemetery, Portland, at the convenience of the family. Callinq hours are Friday, 5-8 p.m., at the Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Sq., New Britain.
