Willis H. Carroll was born in Chattooga Co., GA, and came to Pittsburg, Texas with his family in 1899. He married Gladys E. Greer, of Pittsburg. Well known in the clay industry, he moved to Athens in 1942 from Tyler and was sales manager for the old Athens Brick Co. He became associated with the firm in 1930 and was with it until 1946. Carroll was one of the founders and organizers of the Texas Clay Products Co. at Malakoff in 1946. He remained with the company until 1952 and early in 1953 he helped organize the present Athens Brick Co. He was its first vice-president and sales manager.
