Carol was raised in Santa Clara, Utah with her parents Clarence McAllister & Olive (Hafen) Moss, her five brothers and a sister. She received her education in southern Utah from USU in Library Sciences. With this degree she taught elementary school and worked as a librarian in Utah, Wyoming and Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas, she met and married Samuel Arvin Shannon Jr. They wed on the 16th of October 1970 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) Saint George, Utah Temple. She raised their four children in Las Vegas. Before retiring she worked as an ESL instructor for Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. She was an active member of the LDS faith and found great reward in serving as a Primary pianist for many years, as a worker at the LDS Family History Center of Las Vegas, and as a temple worker in the LDS Las Vegas Temple. Her greatest joy was in caring for her husband, being a mother and a grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father Clarence McCallister Moss, mother Olive (Hafen) Moss, two brothers, Erwin & Ronald Moss.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Arvin Shannon Jr., four children Julia ("Buddy") Valerius, Bethany (Andrew) Owens, David (Connie) Shannon, Sean (Amy) Shannon, twelve grandchildren, brothers Robert, David & Mike Moss, and her sister Ruth Ann Basile.

A viewing will be held Friday, April 20, 2012, at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral at 11:00 AM at the Mountain Vista LDS Ward 1775 N. Christy Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada. Interment 4:00 PM (MST) Santa Clara, Utah Cemetery, 1950 Ancestor Way. La Paloma is the funeral provider in Las Vegas and Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George
