Ira J. Knowles Sr., 74, of 60th St., died Tuesday. A native of Georgia, he had lived in the area for 25 years. He was a Baptist and was a railroad engineer. He had worked for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad for 43 years. Survivors include his widow, Leola M. Knowles and a son, Ira J. Knowles Jr. (1921-1986), both of Tampa; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Bolton, Sanford; two stepsons, Leron W. Mason, Tampa and Ellis M. Mason, Brandon; two brothers, Henry Knowles, Hialeah, and Everett Knowles, Dade City; six sisters, Mrs. Essie Skinner, Tampa, Mrs. Clara K. Hammond, Jacksonville, Mrs. Ethel Gramling, Dade City, Mrs. Thelma Ferrant, Daytona Beach, Mrs. Gertrude Barraco, Brooklyn, and Mrs. Ruby Radford, Jacksonville.
