Parents: John Calhoun WILLIAMS & his first wife, Phoebe L. GREEN.

Emma (Williams) Ralls' sister, Cordelia Williams was born in 1861 Alabama and she died of Typhoid Fever in September 1879. Their mother Phoebe L. (Green) Williams died in 1880 and if she took care of Cordelia prior to her death, then Phoebe may have also died of Typhoid Fever.

Emma WILLIAMS was the second wife of Rev. Hamilton Blount RALLS. They were married on 12 Oct 1886 in St. Clair County AL. They had at least ten children:
(1) Fannie F. Ralls (Born July 1887)
(2) Martha (Ralls) Phillips (1889-1962)
(3) Hamilton Blount Ralls, Jr. (1891-1983)
(4) Lacy P. Ralls (1893-1952)
(5) Louise (Ralls) Gallant (1894-1964)
(6) Annie Collier (Ralls) Freeman (1896-1978)
(7) Joseph Cooper Ralls (1898-1967)
(8) Emma Williams (Ralls) Philips (1902-1992)

Hamilton Blount Ralls was first married to Alice G. (she was born about 1856 in Arkansas), and by 1880 they were residents of Coryell County, Texas. The couple's children were A. W. and Agnes. He then married, in 1886, Emma Williams, who died in 1908. H. B., a minister, was widower on the 1910 Calhoun County, Alabama census. Hamilton B. married Miss Emma Gore on June 19, 1912 in Calhoun County and they were residents of Piedmont on the 1920 census, Hamilton B. serving as postmaster. Several of Hamilton's children by his second wife, Emma (Williams) Ralls, were still living in the household.

MRS. RALLS DIES AT GADSDEN HOSPITAL
Mrs. Emma Ralls, wife of Rev. Hamilton Ralls, pastor of the Methodist church at Springville, died at the Camp & Ralls hospital in this city Monday morning at 2 o'clock. She had been seriously ill for nine weeks, being afflicted with heart trouble, and a week ago was brought to Gadsden and placed in the hospital. The funeral took place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from the residence of O. B. Ralls on Walnut street and the interment was at Forrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Ralls was about 40 years old. Besides her husband she leaves nine children to mourn her loss. Dr. A. W. Ralls of this city is a stepson. County Superintendent of Education J. E. Williams and John Williams, both of this county, are brothers.
Mrs. Ralls was a splendid woman of devout Christian character and she was much loved wherever she was known.
The family lives at Springville.

Wife of Springville Pastor Passed Away at Home of Son Here Yesterday
Mrs. Emma Ralls, of Springville, passed away at the home of her step-son, Dr. Ralls, of this city, yesterday. Death was due to heart trouble from which the deceased had been suffering for some time. She was the wife of Rev. Ralls, pastor of the Springville M. E. church. She was about 35 years of age and was well known in this city where she had many friends.
The funeral was held at 10 O'clock this morning form the residence of Dr. Ralls on Eleventh and Walnut streets. Rev. Hawkins conducted the services. Interment was made at Forrest cemetery. The pall bearers were Rev. Johnson, Rev. Anderson, Dr. Slaughter, D. A. Burns and Judge Bilbro.

Mrs. Emma (Williams) Ralls died Monday, March 23, 1908 at the hospital where her step-son, Dr. A. W. Ralls, had opened a hospital in Gadsden.

Aug. 4, 1906, a story appeared in the Gadsden newspaper about a hospital opening in the area. It was opening Aug. 6, 1906. Physician A. W. Ralls built this hospital on Sixth Avenue at Twelfth Street and called it the Ralls Sanitarium. The Ralls Sanitarium was renamed the Forrest General Hospital in 1928. In 1944, the Forrest General Hospital was sold to the Etowah Baptist Association. The name of the hospital was changed to Baptist Memorial Hospital now called Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
