Thomas Richard "T.R." "Tom" Sansom is the son of Orren Marion Sansom and Mary Sansom.

He was the husband of Mittie Elizabeth (Putman) Sansom. They were married on Feb. 24, 1876 in St. Clair County, Alabama, and they had nine children together by their marriage:

(1) Oren Chester Sansom (May 4, 1880 AL - March 4, 1949 AL)

(2) Joe Putman Sansom (July 20, 1882 AL- Sept. 01, 1969AL)

(3) Mae Sansom (Sept. 1886 AL), she married William H.
Stewart

(4) Mattie Sansom(9 March 1888 AL- 17 July 1964 AL), she
married Mr. Gramling.
(5) Katherine "Kate" Sansom (1893 AL- June 4, 1938 AL)

(6) Jorge Dee "JD" Sansom (7 Nov 1897 AL- 15 Aug 1971 AL)

GRAMLIN, Mrs. Mattie Sansom, 76, 808 Spruce Street, passed away at the residence Friday at 4:25 p.m. after several months illness.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. W.H. Stewart, Springville; three brothers, Tom Sansom and Joe P. Sansom, both of Gadsden, and J.D. Sansom, Fairfield.

Funeral services from Collier-Butler Chapel today at 4 p.m. with Dr. T.A. Edgar officiating. Interment in Forrest Cemetery.

Active pallbearers: Luther Harbin, W.F. Lewis, Bill Brothers, Morris Dean, R.M. Walker, Dr. L. K. Cooper and Jack Graves.

Honorary pallbearers: all personal friends.

Mrs. Gramlin was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County and a member of First Methodist Church. She was a member of McCord Sunday School and WSCS. She was the daughter of the late T.R. and Mittie Putman Sansom.

The body will remain at Collier-Butler Chapel through the hour of service.

SANSOM, Joe Putman, 87, 407 Cherry St., Gadsden, died yesterday at 10:45 a.m. in a local hospital after an extended illness.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mattie McDaniel Sansom, daughters, Mrs. Katherine Medlock and Mrs. Lester Moss, Birmingham, sons, Claude P. Sansom of Dothan; Wilburne P. Sansom, Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Mrs. Mae Stewart, Springville; brothers, J.D. Sansom, Fairfield, Tom Sansom, Gadsden, seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were to be today at 3:30 p.m. in Forrest Cemetery with Dr. Oscar A. Davis officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were to be employees of Hallmark Nursing Home and all other personal friends.

Mr. Sansom was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gadsden, was employed in the Bar Mill Department of Republic Steel Corp. for 27 years and was a Mason and Shriner.

The body will remain at Collier-Butler Parlors until the hour of service.

Mr. Sansom was retired from Republic Steel Corp after 48 years of service.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. The family request no flowers.
