Amanda Elizabeth Bryant was born July 12, 1865, in Warrenton, Mo., and passed away at the home of her son, Noah Bethel, of New Florence, after a prolonged illness. She was the third daughter of John and Susan Bryant.
On December 6, 1883, whe was united in marriage with Elias N. Bethel, who passed away on November 6, 1927. To this union four children were born; Noah, of New Florence; Mrs. Ada Hill, of Wellsville; Earnest Bethel, of Centralia and Jessie Bethel Ekey, who preceded her mother in death. She raised her granddaughter, Marcella Ekey, from childhood to young womanhood.
She is survived by one daughter, two sons, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Most of her married life was spent in the New Florence community.
