Lillian N. (Tatum) Dismuke-Mathis, 85, was born in Jersey, Ark,, on Sept, 25, 1913, to the parentage of the late Rev, B. T, Tatum and Mary Alice (Burns) Tatum, She entered Into eternal rest at 10:21 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 , in South Bend, Ind.
She moved to South Bend from Jersey City, N.J., In 1987. Here she was cared for in the home of her sister, Martha Alexander. She became a member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Booker West.
Lillian received her early education in the public schools of Bradley County, Ark, She was united in marriage to the late Malvin Dismuke, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Jimmie Mathis. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Effort Okley, Booker, Raese "Goose" and Taylor Tatum.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Jimmie Mathis of Jersey City, N,J.; two sisters, Martha Alexander, with whom she resided in South Bend, and Thelma Powell of El Dorado, Ark,; and by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a dear friend, Ollie Minifield.
Lillian, prior to her illness, was employed for 40 years as a dietitian at Bellevue Hospital in New York.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday, Nov, 27, with visitation one hour before at St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church. Interment at Fairview Cemetery,
