Jay Coleman Taylor, age 89 of Hinton, WV, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at his home following a sudden illness.

Born at Sandstone, March 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Jess and Jessie Kincaid Taylor.

He was a retired bus driver for the Summers County Board of Education, former owner of the New River Service Station, and was a former employee of Jarrell's Exxon. He was a charter member of River Valley Baptist Church and attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Steers Taylor; granddaughter, Autumn Ward; an infant brother, James Taylor; four sisters, Pearl Tincher, Denese Ames, Betty Jo O'Bryan, and Imogene Lyons.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Taylor and wife Rhonda of Hinton; a daughter Louverna Brown and husband Mike of Hinton; three grandchildren, Shelly Barnes (Jason), Todd Brown (Rebecca), and Clinton Taylor; six great grandchildren, Jacob Woodrum (Megan), Emily and Rebekah Barns, Khloeigh Brown, Mallory and Emersyn Ward; a step granddaughter, Makaylah Harrah; and a great-great grandchild, Julianna Woodrum (Bentley); several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral from 12pm until 2 pm on Saturday.
