CARLISLE - Robert E. Horning, 59, of Carlisle, died Wednesday from a gunshot wound in Middlesex Twp.

He worked for Conrail in Harrisburg; was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War; past chief and director of the New Kingstown Fire Company; and a member of Cumberland County Fire Chiefs Association.
Surviving are his wife, Marge Horning; two sons, Robert E. Jr. of New Kingstown and Edward I. of Harrisburg; four daughters, Jody M. Betz of Mechanicsburg, Patty A. Zeiders of Carlisle, Candy L. Horning of Lancaster and Heather Rivers of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Patricia Rhurbright of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10: 30 a.m. Saturday in Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
Visitation will be from 9: 30 to 10: 30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
