Ulysses Stewart McGaha was born on February 6, 1868 in Tennessee to William Riley "Billy" and Mary "Polly" (Johnson) McGaha. He had one sister - Nancy Elizabeth "Sissy" (McGaha) McMahan. Ulysses first married Elender Partelia "Ellen" Gunter on June 4, 1887. She was the daughter of John S. and Phoebe (Webb) Gunter. They had one child together: William Stewart McGaha, born on September 18, 1889 in Cosby, Cocke, Tennessee. Ellen passed away on November 4, 1892 in Cosby. Ulysses remarried to Rebecka J. "Becky" Hurst on March 12, 1893. Together, they had four children: Martha Elizabeth "Bess" in January 1894, Jeter McKinley "J.M." on October 26, 1897, Mary "Mollie" L. in October 1868, and Addie Julia on Feb 14, 1901. Ulysses passed away on June 21, 1939 in Arkansas, and Becky on January 14, 1957. They are both bured in the Barren Folk Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Izard County, Arkansas.
