Mary Josephine Furr was the daughter of F. W. and Mary Gray Furr and was born on June 26, 1869, in Broughton Township, Livingston County, 111. Later the family moved to Grundy County. On February 26, 1889, she was united in marriage to Martin Anderson. They farmed in Grundy County area for ten years, then on March 1, 1899, moved to Genoa vicinity and purchased the beautiful farm home, six miles northeast of Genoa, where they have since resided. Mrs. Anderson possessed the highest ideals and was admired by all who knew her. She was a faithful and active member of the Genoa Methodist church for many years. The death of her daughter, Myrtle on October 17,1940, was a great sorrow to her and the family.
