Daniel was the son of Isaac BAKER Sr.,and Maria STALNAKER. He was named after his paternal grandfather. He also had at least one brother named Isaac Jr. Daniel married Christina Margaret Chenoweth (daughter of Lemuel Chenoweth and Nancy Ann Hart) on 5 May 1868 in Beverly, Randolph County, West Virginia.
