Floyd W. Farrar Jr was my dad, his nickname was Tex. He was a Boatswain's mate 2nd class with the 38th SeaBee Battalion during WW2. He was in the Aleutians campaign building shore facilities in 1943.Then at Tinian Island the Mariannas constructing runways and hard stands for the 20th Air Force and the B-29s. He witnessed the Enola Gay take off to bomb Hiroshima. After WW2 we lived in Montrose CA above Glendale CA and he was active in the American Legion Post 288 and the VFW. He was linoleum layer and formica tile setter in the construction trades. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, VFW, and American Legion Post 288 La Crescenta CA.

We moved from Glendale/Montrose in March 1956 to Crestline CA. My folks divorced shortly after and I went into the Navy in 1958 after graduation form high school, I lost track of him in summer of 1960. It was reported that he was killed in an auto accident somewhere in Idaho in 1962, but I don't know where or what the circumstances of the incident. We were very estranged by then and I hardly paid much attention to the death. But never the less he was my father and I respect that.
