LINCOLN - Joyce M. Short, 82, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 8:55 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor, in Lincoln.
A memorial service for Mrs. Short will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at the Life Pointe Church of God, 601 Pulaski Street, in Lincoln, with Pastor C. Douglas Bowers Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until time of the service at the church.
Private family burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, in rural Emden.
Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Joyce Marie Short was born on April 4, 1930, in Atlanta, the daughter of Dewey and Oma Compton Johnson.
She married James Russell Short on June 11, 1946. He survives in Lincoln. Also surviving are her children, Zelma (Bill) Martin and Billy J. Short and four grandchildren, Danny Martin, Josh (Christy) Short, Jenny (Doug Gellner) Martin and Tiffany Short.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Robin Tackett, two brothers and one sister.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. She was employed at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for over thirty years as an aide and also in the physical therapy department. Joyce always hosted the Johnson family reunions. She was very devoted to her family and will be deeply missed.
Memorials may be made to her family.
