Hazel Marjorie Kay was the daughter of Clarence Alvin and Georgia Bebee Newsom. The fourth of five children, Hazel was the only girl in the bunch.
The mother of a daughter and two sons, Hazel found the love of her life late in life. Hazel married Perry L "Pat" Kay on Dec. 4, 1993.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents. She is buried in Union Cemetery near Donie, Texas.

Mrs. Hazel Majorie Newson Kay, 78, of Waco died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at her residence. She was born January 20, 1925 in Donie, daughter of the late Clarence Alvin Newsom and Georgia B. Bond Newsom,and graduated from Donie High School in 1942. She had worked at the telephone company. She married Perry (Pat) Kay December 4, 1993 in Robinson. She was a member of Robinson Drive United Methodist Church. Survivors include: her husband; two sons; one daughter; one
stepdaughter; four brothers, including Allen Newsom of Hubbard; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in Waco with Rev. Pamela Dykehouse and Rev. Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial followed at 1:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Freestone County.
