Wife of John E Gant

Mrs. Elizabeth Gant, wife of John Gant, died at her home in Stockwell, Wednesday morning of diabetes. She had been ill for a year. Mrs. Gant was born August 14, 1849, in Rockingham county, Virginia, the daughter of William and Susan Tankersley, was married to Mr. Gant at Frankfort on August 27, 1868. She was a member of the United Brethren church at Clarks Hill and was held in high esteem. For many years she had resided in Lauramie township. Beside her husband, she leaves one son, Edgar Gant, of Stockwell; a brother, Richard Tankersley of Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Morgan of Colfax and Mrs. Francis Haynes of Missouri, one grandchild and one great grandchild. She was a sister of the late Justice John Tankersley. The funeral will be conducted from the Stockwell M. W. church, Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Rev. Hackley of Colfax, officiating. Burial in Johnson cemetery.
