Abraham Jonas was the son of Benjamin Jonas & Annie Ezekiel. He was married twice, first to Lucy Seixas (1801-1825), shie died in child birth as did their infant son. Abraham then married Louisa Block (1810-1867, he had ten children: Lucia, Charles Henry, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Alray, Julian, George, Anna E, Edward L, and Rosalie. He became a personal friend of President Abraham Lincoln. He was appointed Post Master of Quincy, Adams, Illinois. He was a merchant, lawyer and business leader.He assisted in the formation of the 2nd Masonic Grand Lodge of Illinois, in 1840. He was the first Grand Master of the 2nd Masonic Grand Lodge of Illinois. He was a charter member of Herman Masonic Lodge #39, Quincy,IL, and was Past Master of Herman Lodge in 1854 and 1860.
