Udorus was the second of nine children born to John Trowbridge (1821-1894) and Julia Ann Snyder (1825-1916) who married on 29 Jan. 1846 in Marshall Co., Indiana. His siblings were: Josephus (28 Dec 1846), (Udorus here in 1849), John (circa 1850), Alfred Leroy (b.1851), Lewis Roden (1853-1932), Elvira (1855-1927), Adam S. (31 May 1860-27 Sep 1862), Emma (17 Oct 1861-29 Aug 148) and David (circa 1863). His father farmed for a living.

Udorus married Mary Ellen Wyland on 24 Dec 1869 in La Porte, Indiana. Ellen died on 2 Oct. 1873, three months after giving birth to son Oliver F. who died five days after she did.

He remarried on 24 Oct. 1875 to Sarah Elizabeth Gleason and they divorced seven years later on 7 Oct. 1882.

He married for a third time on 10 Jul 1887 to Caroline Sittig.

In 1919, Udorus was chosen as a juror to decide the fate of "Homer E. Hess, prominent in banking and political circles of Berrien County, Michigan, and central figure in one of the most bitterly contested legal battles to be held in circuit court for some time." In the end, it was determined by the jury, after only eleven minutes of deliberation, that Mr. Hess was not guilty of forgery, the verdict read by the jury's foreman, Udorus Trowbridge. This case over a local farmer's bank note mistakenly raised from $50 to $80, really had the locals in a stir, a frenzy that continued when Homer Hess sued a newspaper editor for libel, claiming that Hess had perjured himself under oath.

I didn't find any children for Udorus except for little Oliver who died and is buried alongside his mother in Fairmount Cemetery in Plymouth, Marshall, Indiana.
