Mrs. Virginia Dole Bennett, 28, wife of Gregory Bennett and member of a prominent pioneer family of this city, died at a Portland hospital yesterday after a major operation. Her home was at Los Angeles.

Mrs. Bennett, daughter of Ira Dole, was a native of Lewiston. She received her elementary education and high school education here, then attended the University of Idaho where she graduated in June of 1940. Her marriage was solemnized at Los Angeles in June of 1943.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Bennett taught at Montpelier. She was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was a communicant of the Christian Science Church.

Mrs. Bennett was an expert swimmer and for several seasons was attached to the life-saving corps of the Red Cross as an instructor.

Mr. Dole and Mrs. L.J. Perkins, maternal grandmother of Mrs. Bennett, were at the bedside when death came.

Survivors include her husband, Father, Sister, Mrs. Robert Seymour, Seattle, and two brothers, Robert Dole, Lewiston, and Phillip Dole, attending the University of California Los Angeles, and Mrs. Perkins.
