Islands
Nobly he gave his life serving his county receiving the Silver Star Medal for extreme gallant and intreped conduct in remaining aboard the burning, sinking, carrier to administer to his wounded fellowmen.
He was again honored by the U.S. Navy on July e, 1943 when an escort ship designated to bear his name was christened THE U.S.S. Tatum
