Brenda Lee Coulter's lifetime journey of loving, laughing and serving was completed Saturday, April 21, 2012, when she retired to her new home at the feet of Jesus. Brenda courageously and faithfully endured a lengthy battle with cancer, surrendering peacefully in the arms of her family at her home in Kuna.

Her 55-year pilgrimage showed how to live in uncompromising faith; in passing she demonstrated how to leave in peace and dignity.

Brenda's family extends far beyond those who share her name. It includes loved ones at the Kuna Church of the Nazarene, a generation of children, their parents, fellow teachers and staff at Cole Valley Christian Schools in Boise, and cherished friends in Lewiston, Idaho, and in the Oregon communities of Baker City, Unity, La Grande and Burns.

Her living legacy was one of endless patience, inspiration and encouragement.

Brenda was born February 22, 1957, in Baker City to Joseph and Marie Carroll. She spent her childhood in Unity and graduated as valedictorian from Burnt River High School in 1975. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Oregon State College in 1979. Her teaching career included elementary grades in Burns and Lewiston. She devoted the last half of her career to teaching at Christian schools in Lewiston and Boise.

The Lord brought Brenda and Mel Coulter into a lifetime of loving commitment as husband and wife on June 12, 1982 in Burns.

Brenda is survived by her husband; daughters Charisa, Chelsea White (John), and Calli; her mother; sisters JoDell Mitchell (Jim) and Rose Young (Robert); brothers Larry Moore (Roselynn) and Tom Moore, other many other family members, beloved teaching colleagues, countless former students and devoted church members.

Her father and a brother, Danny Moore, preceded her in death.

A celebration of her living legacy will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Cole Community Church, 8775 Ustick Road in Boise (corner of Ustick and Maple Grove). Comfortable spring attire befitting a festive farewell is suggested. A reception will be follow immediately in the church's Fireside Room. A graveside service for family and close friends is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Kuna Cemetery, near Boise Avenue and School Street.

Family members request that instead of flowers, loved ones consider contributing to the Brenda L. Coulter Genesis scholarship to benefit future kindergarten students at Cole Valley Christian School. Donations may be sent in her memory to the school.
