Dobie was a rescue dog from the Dogwood Animal Shelter in Camdenton, MO. I was told he was from a litter of 6 puppies and around Christmas time, Dobie and his litter mates were put in a cardboard box and thrown out of a car window. When we got to the shelter, he and brother Charlie were the only two puppies left. Sam wanted Charlie, Joe wanted Dobie, so we adopted both. Dobie was a dachsund/schnauzer/terrier mix, and looked like the dog actor "Benji". He was the brother of Charlie Poertner. Dobie had a surgery in his earlier years, so arthritis developed. As he was a lazy little fella, he earned the nickname, "Action Dog". He also had an enlarged spleen with a large lump (most likely cancer the vet said). He will be missed.
