William 'Bill' Griffin, of Sutton, was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Sutton a son of Alice Griffin.
Surviving are his wife, Unamae; sons, Timothy (Cathy) Griffin and Farrell (Erma) Crites; grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah and Jacob Griffin, William (Miranda) Crites and Charles (Heather) Crites; and great-grandchildren, Jewelienne, Jaydrien, Petton and Trevor Crites.
He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Virginia Riffle and brother, Bob Griffin.
He was a veteran of the Army during the Korean Conflict.
The Braxton Democrat-Central, Friday, April 27, 2012 - Rev. William "Bill" Griffin, 83, of Sutton, WV.,went home to be with the lord on April 23, 2012. Bill obtained his license to preach from Duke University in 1972. He was a United Methodist Minister as Spruce Lick and Centralia United Methodist Church's and several other Methodist Church's in Braxton County during his career. He was Chaplin for Braxton Memorial Hospital and Braxton Health & Rehabilition Center for many years. He was a 1948 Graduate of Sutton High School and a Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post. He is preceded in death by his mother, sister; Virginia Riffle, brother; Bob Griffin. Funeral services sill be held at 2:00 pm Friday April 27, 2012 at Sutton Baptist Church, Sutton with the Rev. Doug Smailes and Rev. Basil Hensley officiating. Military graveside rites with American Legion Post#33 will follow at Harris Cemetery, Bug Ridge near Sutton.
