Mrs. Hilda Temple
Mrs. Hilda Cathleen Temple, 50, died at 7 A.M. here today in the home of her sister, Mrs. B.C. Lipford, 506 Church St.
Although she had been in declining health for a year and confined to her bed for the past two weeks, death was sudden and unexpected.
A native of Bedford County, Mrs. Temple was the daughter of the late J.W. and Bettie Burnette Chaffin. She lived for a number of years in Martinsville before being married to the late W.S. Temple. They later resided for 30 years in Norfolk and lived for a few months in Charlotte, NC, before Mr. Temple died there in May, 1956. Since that time Mrs. Temple had been living with Mrs. Lipford.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Norfolk.
Besides Mrs. Lipford, she leaves another sister, Mrs. H.W. James of Charlottesville; a brother, O.C. Chaffin of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
The body is at McKee Funeral Home pending completion of funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Chaffin Temple, 50, wife of the late W.S. Temple, who died suddenly yesterday in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Lipford, 506 E. Church Street, will be held at 11 A.M. tomorrow in the H.B. Oliver Funeral Chapel, Norfolk. Dr. John R. Hendricks, of Miles Memorial Methodist church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
The body will be taken to Norfolk tonight.
She leaves two sisters, one brother, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Chaffin Temple, 50, wife of the late W.S. Temple, who died unexpectedly Monday in the home of her sister, Mrs. B. C. Lipford, 506 E. Church Street, were held at 11 A.M. yesterday in the H.B. Oliver Funeral Apartments in Norfolk.
The Rev. John R. Hendricks, pastor of Miles Memorial Methodist Church was in charge of the rites. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
Active pallbearers were C.C. Light, A.E. Horne, B.W. Ballou, R.W. Twiford, James Lipford and Stuart Duffer.
Mrs. Temple leaves two sisters, a brother, and a number of nieces and nephews.
