Teresa Snider, 52, was attempting to cross Van Buren Avenue from her home in the 1500 block when she was hit by an eastbound 1992 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Ryan Hopson, 19. According to a neighbor, she appeared to be carrying a tray of items to visit someone when the accident occurred.
Corvallis police blocked off Van Buren between 15th and 16th streets for at least an hour after the 7:39 p.m. incident, while county and city officers investigated the scene.
Snider was evaluated and treated by emergency medical technicians from the Corvallis Fire Department, then transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room. She died of injuries sustained in the accident.
Neither Hopson nor James Arp, 18, a passenger in the vehicle, were injured.
