Married Jean McCall on Sept. 28, 1876.

Father of John Driscoll, Richard John Driscoll, Robert McCall Driscoll, Maurice Driscoll, Mary Theresa Driscoll, Isabell Jean Driscoll, Alice Hannah Driscoll, Eileen Jessie Driscoll, and Cuthbert Patrick Driscoll.

Death of Mr. Richard Driscoll.
Yesterday the death took place at his home East Devonport, of Mr. Richard Driscoll, at the age of 79 years. Mr. Driscoll was for very many years a well-known and respected figure in the Tasmanian police, having held the position of superintendent for a long period. He was superintendent at Devonport over 40 years ago and in 1898 he was transferred to Launceston, where he acted for 12 years and then at his own request was moved to Devonport, where he was superintendent from 1910 till 1914,when he retired and has lived since at East Devonport.
He was well known at Devonport and over a large territory and was always noted for his decorum in office and earned universal respect. Of late years he was in failing health and defective eyesight induced him to seek the seclusion of his home. In addition his strength failed perceptibly, so that he end was not unexpected.
Mr. Driscoll was a native of Derriguihy, County Clare, Ireland and came to Australia when a young man. He married at Devonport, Jean, only daughter of the late Hon. J. H. McCall, who for many years sat in the Legislative Council, while a son of the family, was John, afterwards Sir John McCall, who was Agent-General for a term. Mrs. Driscoll predeceased her husband two years ago. There was a family of nine, five sons and four daughters. The oldest son, Richard studied medicine and practiced for different periods in the North West, but passed away at his parents home in 1919. The other members of the family are living. The sons are Messrs. John Driscoll (Launceston), Robert and Maurice Driscoll (N.S.W.) and Cuthbert Driscoll, of Hobart. The last named was at his father's bedside and the other sons have been summoned home. The daughters reside with their father.
