DANFORTH - Emerson E. Bartlett, 83, died April 28 at a local nursing home after a long illness. he was born at Lambert Lake, Sept. 21, 1891, son of John and Izetta (Grass) Bartlett. he lived most of his life in Danforth and was a member of the Danforth Baptist Church. he was a retired woods cook, pulpwood contractor, and farmer. He was known throughout the state as "Biscuit Bartlett," and was also a well known guide and hunter. he was the widower of Lydia (Day) Bartlett, who died Jan. 18, 1975. He is survived by five sons, Eaton of Brookton, Richard of Carmel, John and Winston of Danforth, and William of Medofrd, Ore., four daughters, Mrs. Mae Stilphen of Bath, Mrs. Helen Fickett of Rockville, Conn., Mrs. Barbara Kinney and Mrs. MarthaDayl Nason, both of Houlton; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Russell, Danforth, Mrs. Audrey White of Gardiner; one uncle, Uriah Howland of Princeton; 34 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Danforth Baptist Church, Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Burial will be in the Danforth Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bartlett Funeral Home, Danforth, Tuesday afternoon and evening.
