James Grant was married twice, first to Miss Easton and 2nd to Sally Hunter.
He resided in Callaway County in 1823, where he became an influencial citizen. He represented the county in the Legislature for one term. He was also Judge to the County Court for sometime.
He subsequently removed to the south-western part of Missouri and died in the Neosho River.
