George Lawrence "Larry" Scholes, 77, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1992 at the Stafford District Hospital, Stafford.
He was born June 19, 1915, at Shambaugh, Iowa, the son of Elmer Nelson and Bonnie Blanche Reed Scholes. He received a master of science degree at Emporia State University. A former Sylvia resident, living in Stafford since 1989, he was a teacher, coach and principal for Fairfield USD 310, and he was a farmer.
He was a member of Gideons International, the Teaching and Administrative Professional Organization, a member and elder of the Stafford Presbyterian Church, Zenith Co-op, Ninnescah REA, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Stafford County Farm Bureau. He was a U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II.
On Aug. 29, 1948, he married Silva D. McConnaughey at Stafford. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Lanny, Pratt; two daughters, Kay Ellis, St. John, and Cheryl Smith, Sterling; and six grandchildren.
Funeral: Wednesday (today) at the Stafford Presbyterian Church, with Revs. Ralph Hand and Glen Morford officiating.
Burial in the Stafford Cemetery, Stafford.
