Waymond Dawson, 60, of Moultrie, died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 10, t Mother Easter Baptist Church, where the Rev. Freddie Castle is the pastor and will be assisting. The Rev. E.H. Hopkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. James Pallbearers Cemetery #2, following the funeral service with the repast to conclude in the Emory H. Hopkins Fellowship Hall. Johnny Brown III, Bryant Williams, Bobby Williams, Thad Brown, Jake Mobley and Derrick Dawson will serve as pallbearers. Camilla Consolidated Schools Class of 1968 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1950, in Mitchell County, Ga., to Alfred Lee Jester Dawson and the late Oscar Dawson Jr. He was a 1968 graduate from the Camilla Consolidated Schools. He retired from Windstream after 35 years of service as a line crew assignor. He was a member of Mother Easter Baptist Church, where he served as an audio technician. He was also a member of Nehemiah Masonic Lodge #137, as well as a Shriner. He was known as a great cook, a fisher, a hunter, a mechanic and a barber, said his family. He also served as a past board member for Habitat for Humanity.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Oscar Dawson III and Reginald Dawson.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Johnson Dawson of Moultrie; his mother, Alfred Lee Dawson of Camilla, Ga.; two sons, Theron Dawson and wife Jackie of Ashville, N.C., and Darius W. Dawson and wife Ishia of Moultrie; three daughters, Romanca Dawson of Moultrie, Courtney Granistosky and husband Joseph of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bethia Dawson of Moultrie; two brothers, Kenneth Dawson and wife Pok of San Antonio, Texas and Eric Dawson of Valley, Ala.; two sisters, Sherril D. Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Renee Dawson of Hartford, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Cierra Dawson, Ryan Dawson, Skyler Byrd, Kaelainn Slaughter, Savonta Slaughter, Kaleb Dawson, Nia Jackson and Kelsey Dawson; two great-grandchildren, Alejandra Byrd and Jordan Dawson; two special friends, Wilbert Mitchell and Paul Moore both of Moultrie; one god-son, Aaron Toles of Forsyth, Ga.; three aunts, Lucy Williams of Philadelphia, Pa., and Gladys Thornton and Earnestine Norwood both of Camilla, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Darrell Johnson of Moultrie; one sister-in-law, Carol Dawson of Camilla, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Waymond Dawson, 60, of Moultrie, died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at his residence.
