Harry Yates Dies at 75
Harry Clifton Yates, former state legislator and Buchanan county official, died yesterday at a St. Joseph hospital at the age of 75 years.
A native of Faucett, Mr. Yates was a school teacher in the area for a time. He served in the state legislature from 1909 to 1913, and from 1923 to 1927; was recorder of deeds for Buchanan county from 1915 to 1923, and presiding county judge of the Buchanan County from 1927 to 1931.
Mr. Yates was president of the bank of Faucett until it closed in 1932. Until his health became bad, he was associated with various state agencies.
An active Mason, Mr. Yates was a member of Birming Lodge No. 50, A.F. and A.M., Faucett; a past high priest of Tabernacle Chapter No. 51, R.A.M., Faucett; a member of St. Joseph Council No. 9 R. and S.M.; a past commander of Hugh de Payens Commandery No. 4, K.T.; a a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; a member of Moila Temple Shrine and a member of Faucett Chapter No. 434 O.E.S.
Mr. Yates lived at 5727-1/2 King Hill avenue. He was a member of the Hyde Park Methodist Church.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Edith Yates of the home, and a nephew, L. E. (Jack) Yates of St. Joseph, former county highway engineer.
The body is at the Clark mortuary.

Yates Services Are Tomorrow
Services for Harry Clifford Yates, former presiding judge of the Buchanan county court, who died Saturday, will be at 1 tomorrow at the Clark chapel. The Rev. L. D. Boatman of Kansas City, Kan., assisted by the Rev. David L. Morrison, will officiate. Burial will be in Yates cemetery at Faucett. Pallbearers will be Lewis Wallace, John Roth, Henry Mordaunt, J. P. Hull, Dr. Forest Thomas and Frank W. Zbiersky.
