Jane was the daughter of William Anderson Carter and Lydia "Sallie" Kinser. She was one of sixteen children.
Sometime in the late 1870's most of the family moved from Tennessee and settled in Hunt County, Texas.
She was the sister of David F., Eagleton Monroe, John Wesley,William Henry , George Washington, Marion Columbus, Philip Franklin, Emily Susan, James Lafayette, Mary "Victory" Victoria, Thomas Newton, Louisa Missouri, Joseph Wright and Martin Canada


Rites held Monday for Mrs. Jane Paris

Funeral services were held at 2: 30 Monday for Mrs. Jane Paris, 91, who passed away at her home on Rt. 1, at 3:00 Sunday Morning, May 8th.

Rev. N. W. Oliver, pastor, was in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. E. G. Nelson of Mt. Pleasant. Interment was in Mount Carmel Cemetery. R. W. Owens and son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Grandsons, who served as pallbearers were; Earl Howard, Edgar Howard, Lenzell Paris, Bobby Paris, Hubert Stidham and Fred Martin.

Honorary pallbearers were: George Sammons, Charlie Mayes, Rev. Bill Rudd, Arthur Green, Marion Green and Charlie Martin.

Jane Carter Paris was born June 29, 1857 in Benton, Tennessee. She was the daughter of William and Lydia Carter. In 1879, she married Henry M. Paris and to this union 8 children were born.

Mrs. Paris moved to Texas when she was 31 and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. W. L. Howard, Rt. 1, and Mrs. Hubert Champion of Logansport, Louisiana; six sons, Billy Paris of Demmit, New Mexico, Tommy Paris of Clayton, Okla., John Paris of Leonard, Lawrence Paris of Memphis, Martin Paris and Henry Paris of Ft. Worth; one sister, Mrs. Lou Cox of Lampasses; 35 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.
