US Politician, Law Figure. A native of Crow's Station, Kentucky, he served as a Circuit Judge from 1814 to 1816, Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1816 to 1820, Speaker of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1818 to 1820, Member of the Indiana State Senate from 1837 to 1838, and as a Probate Judge from 1846 to 1852. A noted businessman as well, he donated the land for the Hanover College. The College founded in 1827 is one of the oldest and privately owned in the State of Indiana.
