Nellie A. Oxley, 96, recently of Plano,Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 4:40 pm at Medical Center of Plano, Plano, Texas.

Mrs. Oxley was born in Jackson Township, Wells County, Indiana on November 5, 1915 to Eli and Stella Booher, who owned a farm in Wells County.

She lived on the farm until she married Paul Oxley of Wells County. They moved to a farm owned by Lloyd and Becky Lieurance. While Mr. Lieurance was overseas Nellie and Paul worked the farm for 34 years, both while Mr. Lieurance was away and after he returned. When Mr. Oxley became ill, they retired from farming.

The Oxleys bought a restaurant in Blackford County at State Road 3 and 18 and ran it for several years. Mrs. Oxley then worked at an appliance factory in Van Buren, Indiana for 18 years before retiring.

She was a caring mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul Oxley. Also, her daughter, Peggy McCrum of Hartford City, Indiana, her parents, Eli and Stella Booher, two brothers, and three sisters.

Mrs. Oxley is survived by her granddaughter, Cynthia Turner and her husband, Robert of Prosper, Texas; her grandson, David McCrum and his wife, Janet of Plano, Texas; sister Donna Leas of Montpelier, Indiana; sister-in-law Ruth Booher of Warren, Indiana; nieces Linda Hiatt of Fairmont, Indiana, Cathy Leas of Columbia City, Indiana, Connie (Rex) Jennings of Warren, Indiana; Louanne Carter of Marion, Indiana; nephews Michael Holloway of Ocala, Florida; Max Clark and his wife, Anita of Florida.

A service to celebrate Nellie's life will be held at the Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren on Friday April 4, 2012 at 3:00PM with calling two hours prior to the service from 1-3PM at the funeral home. Rev. Jackie Michaelson will officiate.

Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery, Warren.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the Asbury Cemetery, Warren.
