The name "Benjamin Lewis," with no dates included, was listed on the map of this cemetery. The grave is unmarked, and also next to the unmarked grave of his daughter Carrie (Lewis) Lombard. His other daughter, Annie, is also in this cemetery.

Benjamin was the son of John and Elizabeth (Faunce) Lewis, who lived in Paris, Maine, in 1850. He was the third of four children whose births were recorded in Buckfield from the years 1828 to 1841. A sister Susan was born in 1845, perhaps after the family moved to Paris. Benjamin's older sister Angeline died in 1851, his mother died in 1852, and his older sister died in 1853... these three share the same grave marker in Paris.

In 1853 Benjamin's father married Penelope Rose of Leeds. She was the sister of Harvey and Seth Rose, who are buried in this cemetery. John had evidently relocated to Leeds after the death of his wife. As for Benjamin's other siblings, his sister Susan died in 1870 and is buried in Greene. His younger brother, John Fairfield Lewis, served in the Civil War, was a resident of Leeds when he married Eliza Verrill of Auburn, and moved to Abington, Massachusetts before 1865.

In 1857 Benjamin married Nancy Caroline Rose, the niece of his father's wife Penelope. Benjamin worked as a farm laborer in Leeds, and also registered for the draft from Leeds in 1863.

Benjamin and Nancy had a son Lester born about 1861, a daughter Carrie born 1870, and a daughter Annie born in 1874. Annie died in 1876. Nancy and Benjamin divorced in 1879. In his later years Benjamin lived with his daughter Carrie.
