Pvt. Duwaine R. Raatz, 24, son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Raatz, Margaret Street, Iron Mountain, Mich., is recuperating in a North African Hospital from injuries he received April 8, when a German land mine exploded in the path of the jeep he was driving.
Raatz entered the United States Armed Forces February 1941 & sailed for Africa Oct. 8, 1942. He is the father of a young son, who lives with his parents. His wife, Tillie did last January, 4 months after he landed in Africa.
He also has 2 brothers in the service, Cpl. Quentin & Clifford, U.S. Coast Guard.
