Edwin was born to Alice (Gluesing) Weilep and Edwin O. Weilep Sr. in Gilmanton WI September 5, 1925. He Graduated from Gilmanton High School and joined the Army in September 1943 during WWII. He spent most of his service in Italy, where he was a truck driver, mechanic and learned to fly airplanes. After an honorable discharge from the Army he moved to Clarkston WA to live with relatives and work in the woods as a Lumberjack. There is where he met the love of his life Betty R. Comegys and started his family. The family moved to Spokane WA in 1963 and he spent the rest of his life there employed at Byrne Machinery as a heavy equipment mechanic before his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents Alice and Edwin Weilep Sr., Brother Wilbur Weilep and Sister Catherine Weilep Pickett. Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty R Weilep, children Alice and her husband Mike Schroeder, Lee Weilep, Catherine and her husband Harry Stearns, Dale Weilep and his wife Linda, and Susan Weilep, and one Sister Rozalind Franz IN. He has numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad's favorite thing to do was to play Cribbage and he made a lot of friends and acquaintances traveling to tournaments and playing the game around town. A celebration of his life will be held Friday December 12, at the Valley VFW Post 1435, 212 S David Rd, Spokane Valley WA 99212 starting at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Valley VFW in his honor.
