Son of Sidney and Adelia Chase
"Maple Grove was greatly shocked last Monday to learn of the sudden death of Burton Curtis Chase, which occurred at his home about one mile from that place. He had lived alone, as was his wish, for several years. Mr. Chase was born in Westford, October 31th, 1854, and grew to manhood at that place. Later he went into the jewelry business in Schenevus and McGranvill, Penn. ... The deceased was unmarried and the only surviving relatives left to mourn his loss are a niece, Mrs. Lottie, and nephew, Burdette Barber, both residing near Maple Grove. His only sister, Mrs. William Barber, died May 2d, 1915. Mr. Chase was a man highly respected by all who knew him and will be missed by a large circle of friends. He was a great lover of flowers and a first class gardener. The funeral was held at the home of his brother-in-law, William Barber, Wednesday afternoon, at 1 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Silcox officiating, with interment in the Bennett-Weatherly cemetery near West Laurens." ["The Otsego Farmer & Republican" (Cooperstown, NY), Apr. 7, 1922]
