Robert was the 10th and last child of Rev. Claudius Lysias Chilton and Mabel Pierce Chilton - named for Robert Scott Lovett, CEO of the Southern Pacific RR.
Robert eschewed both the family's religion and academic achievement, left Alabama for California and lived under a pseudonym. In August 1923 he married one Olive Mary CHARVES and they became parents to a Mary Jeanette in 1924, who died in 1930.
Robert is said to have had a dramatic and unpleasant demise in California. His Chilton siblings had his remains shipped to Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery.
