Joann Madden McDaniel, age 82, of Alamo died on Wednesday morning, May 2, 2012, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Visitation will be held at Ronk Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at from 6-8 p.m. Also, visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Alamo from 11:30 a.m.-1p.m. The memorial service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Alamo on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. Minister for the service will be Jerry Hassell.

Mrs. McDaniel was born in Corinth, MS on July 3, 1929. She graduated from Corinth High School in 1947. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1964 from Bethel University. She taught Physical Education for over 20 years for the Jackson Madison County School System.

After the death of Frank, whom she married June 9, 1947, she was lucky enough to find love again and married Dr. Harold McDaniel in 1984.

She was an avid golfer and she and Dr. Mac enjoyed traveling to all 50 states in their motor home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Lessie Johnson; first husband, Rev. Frank Madden; second husband, Dr. Harold McDaniel; and brother, R.C. "Buddy" Johnson, Jr.

Surviving relatives include her sons, Mike Madden and wife Susan, and Marty Madden; step-daughters, Malinda McDaniel, Beth McDaniel and Gay Cooper and husband Dr. Skip Cooper; grandchildren, Mark Madden, Matt Madden, Corey Madden, Megan Madden, Ann Cooper and Mac Cooper; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Alamo Nursing Home and Rehabilitation and the Bells Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care for her.

Memorials made be sent to the American Cancer Society at 861 East Church Street Alamo, TN 38001, Hardeman Adoptable Animals at 115 Kristi Lane Bolivar, TN 38008, and/or "Missionary Fund or We Care" at First United Methodist Church of Alamo at 74 North Johnson Street Alamo, TN 38001.

Her interment will be held at Henry Cemetery in Corinth, MS at 4 p.m. Friday May 4, 2012.
